Starting as a practice I painted in water color then tried in oils replicating the works of the great masters. One of my first paintings I tried to replicate was La Bonemienne a piece by Franz Hals. Franz Hals had a technique of using both a palette knife and brush. I found this to be a good practice for me and I carried this technique throughout all of my oil paintings.
